Beloved: welcome to another week of the month of October 2020. And may God’s grace, love and mercy overflow over your life all through it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
As we begin this new week, I like to remind you that the you are not the only one God intends to make Himself, His love and His power known to in this world. On the contrary, His intention is to make Himself, His love and His power known to all men. That is why the bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Cf. John 3:16)
Did you see that? You are not the only one that God loves. And I am not the only one He loves. He loves all men, even those who hate Him and speak evil things against Him all the time. This is why He shows them His love and mercy everyday, though they don’t realise it or praise Him for it (Matt 5:44). And His utmost desire is that all of them will someday come to realise who He truly is and how much He cares about them, so that they may freely yield themselves to Him and experience His salvation to the full. Therefore, if you have witnessed or tasted His love, goodness and power in any way, the least you could do is to provide a platform for Him to reach others too with the same love, goodness and power you have enjoyed or are enjoying from Him. That is one of the things that will show that you too care for others, just as He cares for you.
Now we see an illustration of this in Cornelius of bible days. As the account goes, an angel of the Lord had appeared to this man in a vision to make two major things known to him. The first was to let him know that his prayers and gifts to the poor were not going to waste – God approved of them. The second was to let him know that, though God cherished all that he was doing, he still needed salvation through Christ Jesus, and the one to tell him how to go about this was Peter. (Cf. Acts 10:1-6)
So then, based on the instructions of that angel of God, Cornelius sent an invitation to Peter through three of his men. But that was not all that he did. He also sent out invitations to his relatives and friends to come to his house and listen to Peter talk to them. Why? It was because he knew that Peter would be addressing them on the most important subject anyone could ever discuss – everlasting life with God – and he did not want to enjoy it all alone. So, when Peter finally came into his house, as the bible tells us, what he found surprised him – he found a large gathering of people. And by the time he was through ministering to them, God had saved all of them and filled them with His Holy Spirit. (Cf. Acts 10:24-27&44-48)
But what if Cornelius had not provided that plaform for his relatives and friends to hear Peter talk to them about Jesus Christ, would God have been able to save them did way He did that day? I don’t think so. Yes, God could have saved all those people, even if Cornelius would not create any platform for Him to minister to them. But the story would definitely have ended differently, and the man would have lost whatever praise or reward he could have received from God for creating a platform for Him to minister life to others.
What is the point of all this, then? It is that we too, who are daily enjoying the goodness and favour of God, ought to open the eyes of our hearts to see how we can use our resources, facilities, skills or anything else that God has given us to create platforms for Him to bless others as well. There are many in our world today who need healing, guidance, deliverance, love, confidence and so forth and who don’t know how to get them. And what these people need may just be someone like Cornelius, who will use his time, resources or skills to create a platform for them to meet with Jesus, the only one who can solve all of man’s problems. Will you, then, be that person, as you go this week? Will you be another Cornelius through whom God can bless many in your world, as you live everyday? My prayer is that you will be more than one, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Do have fabulous week.
