Tell them the truth anyway

“”You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.””

(John 6:67-69NIV)

One of the things our Lord was known for during His days here on earth was saying things the way they were. He never lied to anybody about anything. He always told them the truth. And He did that, regardless of how they felt or what they thought.

Don’t lose your soul for anything

Beloved: grace, mercy and peace to you from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Welcome to another week of the year 2020. And I pray that the kindness of God will make life sweet and pleasant for you all through the week, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

As we begin this new week, I want to remind you that, regardless of how sweet and pleasant this world is for us, there is a far better place that God has prepared for those who love Him. And regadless of how horrible this world may seem to be for us, there is a far worse place that God has prepared for the devil and all haters of God. Therefore, we must see to it that we do not allow our dealings with this world and the things in it to rob us of that wonderful place in eternity that God has prepared for us.

A way to hinder evil

“When evil people are not punished right away, it makes others want to do evil, too.”

(Eccl 8:11NCV)

According to Scriptures, God is a good and compassionate God, who is slow to get angry and quick to forgive sins (Ex 34:6-7; Micah 7:18). Nevertheless, there are times He moves in very quickly to punish people for their sins, giving them no warning and leaving them no room for repentance.

For instance, when Nadab and Abihu, two of the sons of Aaron, offered an unauthorized fire before the Lord, they were both instantly consumed by fire from the presence of the Lord. They did not get any warning; neither were they given any opportunity to ask for forgiveness. They were simply executed by God instantly. The experience so shocked Aaron, their father, that he was speechless. (Cf. Lev 10:1-3)

Be all-out for God

Beloved: grace, mercy and peace be yours immeasurably from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. I am glad to welcome you into the month of July 2020, the first month in the second half of this year. And I pray that God will so occupy your heart with joy in this last half of the year that you will forget whatever pains or losses you experienced in the first half of the year, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Now I want to enjoin you, as we begin this second half of the year, to be all-out for God in everything. In other words, don’t take half measures in your worship of God or go half way in your devotion to Him. Instead, give yourself fully to Him in worship and in service. That is because that is the only way to enjoy Him in all His fullness and also have His approval.

Prove yourself profitable with what is available

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?” (Luke 16:10-12NIV)

When God first made man, He told him to rule over the earth, subdue it and replenish it. But we see clearly from Scriptures that God did not immediately leave him to start moving round all the face of the earth in order to fulfill the mandate He had given him. Instead, He first put him in a small garden, the garden of Eden. And He did that to teach us that until we have learnt to manage that which is little and profit with it, there is no way we can manage that which is great and be fruitful with it. (Cf. Gen 1:26-29 & 2:4-8)

Renew your strength in Him

Beloved: grace, mercy and peace be yours abundantly from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Saviour. I am delighted to welcome you to this new week, which is the transition week between the months of June and July of this year. And I pray that your heart will continually be strengthened to remain strong in doing the will of God, regardless of the circumstances in which you may find yourself in this life. Amen.

Evidently, these are difficult times for many all around the world. Yes, these are difficult times for many to take care of themselves, their families, or their affairs in righteousness and with the integrity of heart. And that is because of the increase in wickedness, deception, and apathy towards God among men. But should we be surprised or alarmed because of these things? No! And that is because the word of God already makes it very clear to us that the last days of men here on earth will be difficult days. His word already shows us that these days will be days in which all forms of evil will be on the increase, and all the laws and programmes that we have put in place to protect us or make life easy for us will not be able to keep things from falling apart. (Cf. Matt 24:12; 2Tim 3:1-5)

You cannot perform beyond your ability

“Then he said to Jether, his oldest son, “Go ahead, kill them!” But the boy did not draw his sword. He hesitated, because he was still only a boy. Then Zebah and Zalmunna said to Gideon, “Come on, kill us yourself. It takes a man to do a man’s job.” So Gideon killed them and took the ornaments that were on the necks of their camels.” (Judg 8:21GNT)

One of the things I still appreciate about my childhood is the fact that I could dream as I big as I wanted without recognising any limitation. I am sure you too can relate to that. As children, we just dream and keep on dreaming about all kinds of things we want to do and become. We are not afraid to dream big at all. And that is because we don’t recognise limitation or boundaries. But as we grow older and can better relate to life, the reality of what we can actually do or not do begin to dawn on us. And it is only those among us who lose no time in embracing this reality that will most likely be saved from wasting their lives in pursuit of things that are beyond them
